Payton looks the part of a starting quarterback, doesn’t he? Throw in the fact that he’s an excellent basketball player and you’ve got quite the athlete. This is one sharp kid with a bright future, and I don’t think his sports career will end when he graduates. Can’t wait to see what lucky college lands Payton and where his talent takes him.

I’ve been taking photos of Ashley and her family for several years and it’s always fun to spend time with them. Like many of the seniors I’ve photographed, Ashley is an athlete and keeps busy with sports. Doesn’t hurt that her dad is a coach and her mom played several sports herself in high school. Must run in the genes?

I had the privilege of taking Michaela’s senior portraits this Fall, and she happens to be my niece! We had a fun time finding some great areas around Alexandria to use as backdrops for her photos. And of course, we had to include our favorite cat Judy in at least a few photos.

I had the pleasure of taking Kayla’s senior portraits last weekend, and we managed to have a great day and find some great locations.  I like mixing up both country and urban settings to give seniors lots of options for their photos.  A few more traditional and a few a bit more edgy. Kayla was great to work with and was able to keep that big, bright smile of hers on standby whenever I needed it!

Yikes, it’s been a while since my last post!  My new job has me traveling more than I expected and the weather hasn’t been all that great in 2013.  Excuses aside, I have still been taking pictures.  More recently, I took these senior portraits of Tori, who was awesome to work with.  A great smile, a great attitude and amazing perseverance to suffer through some of the most humid conditions I have ever shot in!  Enjoy the photos and look for more posts over the next few weeks as I catch up.

It’s time to kick off the 2013 senior portrait season and my two-part session with Catie was a great way to start things off.  She was going for a mix of nature and urban looks, so we visited Carver Park Reserve on Saturday evening and downtown Minneapolis on Sunday evening.  Catie has plans to be a sign language interpreter and eventually study for a career in fashion . . . very cool!

So, do you think December is too cold to take senior portraits outside in Minnesota? Not for Ruti! She toughed it out in the bone-chilling winds of downtown St. Paul today and did a great job. I kept going through the photos trying to find one where she looked cold and couldn’t find one. There was a point when I had trouble feeling my fingers – yeah, it was that cold. Way to rock it, Ruti.

Had a great session with Paige on Wednesday afternoon. We shot in and around Stillwater and had great weather for photos.  Not sure how I get so lucky to have such photogenic clients, but I’m not complaining.  Yes, that’s a shotgun Paige is holding . . . she hunts and shoots in competitions.  Now here’s a girl that can pull off a gun in one photo and a prom dress in the next.  Very cool.
